Marble Haida Chest, Canadian Museum of History Replica

$240.00

This chest is a licensed reproduction of an original Haida argillite carving. The original piece was carved by Haida artist John Robson, stepfather of the legendary Charles Edenshaw, and can be found in the Canadian Museum of History. This chest is a fine example of the type of Victorian chest that the Haida specialized in during the latter part of the 18th century. It is made from a crushed marble composite that simulates the look of argillite. Argillite is a gray-black slate found only on Graham Island in the Haida Gwaii archipelago. Made in Canada.
